This was inside the old school, on the hill opposite the Cross Keys. The child 2nd from the right in the 2nd row down is Mary Ellen Jones of Long Acre, Dyserth. In 1912 she married John Elias Thomas, (then a farm labourer at Trecastell). John Elias died in 1945 at Pant Glas Farm, Talacre. Mary Ellen Thomas died in 1982, aged 89

The people on the photos were identified by former teacher and Dyserth resident, Miss Mabel Roberts, who lived in Trigfa, Cwm Road and latterly in Haddef, Cwm Road.

The teacher is Maria Edwards nee Roberts.

She lived in Clwyd Villa and married the Ysgol Hiraddug headmaster D J Thomas quite late in life. Together they were quite a team ! educated in Dr Williams’ School Dolgellau. A very gently spoken, kind and dignified lady. She looks about 5 on this photo.
